Two part article: 1) How the MSM Sucks - AGAIN! & 2) Muslims Are Crazy!

Follow up to: ...the HOR-ROR...

In an interesting follow-up to the Pakistani outrage that followed Newsweak's (intentionally misspelled) story about Army officials desecrating the Koran by flushing it down the toilet, I found a story yesterday about a riot in Afghanistan over this news. Now, there are two sides of the story I want to address. The first is the MSM's utter inability to get a military story RIGHT - y'all know we've wrangled over this a lot lately. (How do these idiots keep their jobs, fer cryin' out loud?) And the second point is about the psychotic mob mentality of Muslims.

First, here's what the AP (you know, where ALLLLLL the MSM outlets pick up their news) sent over the wire to the rest of the world:

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP)
Shouting "Death to America," demonstrators angry over the alleged desecration of the Quran at Guantanamo Bay smashed car and shop windows and stoned a passing convoy of U.S. soldiers Wednesday in eastern Afghanistan. Police opened fire on the protesters, killing four and injuring at least 71. The U.S. troops fired into the air before quickly leaving the area in Jalalabad, near the Pakistan border, provincial intelligence chief Sardar Shah told The Associated Press. It was the biggest outpouring of anti-American sentiment since the fall of the Taliban in 2001.

Now, here's what the AP (same nincompoops as above) ALSO sent out over the wire on the same day to the rest of the world - the accompanying photo & caption:

Afghan protest in Jahalabad
University students march in the steets in Jalalabad, Afghanistan in this image from televison Wednesday May 11, 2005. Police and U.S. troops opened fire in an eastern Afghan city to control hundreds of students rioting over alleged desecration of Islam's holy book at the U.S. jail in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, killing two protesters and injuring more than 50, officials said. See any radical differences in the two accounts? (Hint: I emphasized them to make it easy.)
Ok, I don't think I need to editorialize on the MSM's inconsistencies except to point out the obvious: one story makes it sound like the U.S. troops were passing by and fired their weapons into the air; while the other makes it sound like the troops opened fired and killed and wounded a LOT of student protestors.

Well, my indictment of the MSM doesn't stop here. Because ya know what? Neither of the above stories is what really happened - not even close!!! It's almost like they were made up out of thin air. Here's the real story:

From my son in J'habad:

I realize that sensational news sells, and that death sells in the media. I can understand that a story about a middle eastern city in which there are American troops stationed rioting and some of those rioters dying is a story. What I can't understand is why the media hates the US military so much.

I say this because there was an incident today in the city of Jalalabad where there were reports of American military personnel firing (according to some news agencies) into the crowds and according to others firing into the air and then leaving. If they had stuck around to find out what really happened they would have known that there were absolutely no American military personnel downtown where the rioting was taking place. It disappoints me that the news our families are getting is news that isn't accurate and news which serves only to scare our loved ones.

Lest I hear back from anyone that we can't trust the word of one of our own soldiers when the AP is reporting otherwise, let me offer one more news source that apparently got it right (I have to point out that this more accurate version is from Australian news, not our own American muckrakers):

Sydney Morning Herald. Kabul: Three people were killed and at least 60 injured when police clashed with more than 5000 Afghans infuriated by reports that US soldiers had desecrated the Koran at Guantanamo Bay prison camp.

"We have two dead in our hospital and 47 wounded. Three of the people injured are in a serious condition," said Mohammed Ayob, deputy director of the public health hospital in the eastern city of Jalalabad.

"The medical university hospital, the second hospital of the city, has registered one dead and 12 wounded are in hospital. Some other people with light injuries were cared for and have been discharged."

Witnesses said police opened fire as the crowd rampaged through the city yesterday.

Jalalabad police chief Abdul Rehman said: "Initially the demonstrators were peaceful but then a group joined them and the mob turned violent."

Western security sources said the governor's office and those of several aid agencies including UNICEF, the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund, were set on fire.

The US State Department said on Tuesday that the Pentagon was looking into a report in Newsweek magazine that interrogators at the prison camp at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, kept copies of the Koran in toilets to annoy prisoners.

The protesters, which one police source in Jalalabad said numbered "maybe 10,000", also denounced US-backed President Hamid Karzai, shouting: "Death to America's allies" and "Death to Karzai" as well as "Death to Bush". US troops stationed in the city stayed in their base, witnesses said.

The reports have also infuriated close US ally Pakistan.

Nope - no US troops killed or injured anyone - they weren't even there! Good golly, could the AP BE any more f'd up?!

OK, I guess I made the point I wanted to make about that. Hammered it home so now let's move on to my second point.

Since when does a Muslim riot NOT turn violent? Have you ever hear of a "peaceful" Muslim demonstration anywhere? I mean, damn, they set the aid agencies (including the U.N. Children's Emergency Fund) on fire, fer pete's sake. (Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face!) Because Americans in Guantanamo flushed a Koran!!!! Is there no reason, no moderation among these Muslims? Are they simply unable and unwilling to control a response to a desecration of their holy book on the other side of the world? I mean, people DIED in this riot. I wonder if they think it's worth it. The religious fervor that drives these people is like nothing I've ever seen or heard of. All it does is emphasize to me that they're radically crazy - as a whole. [Yes, liberals, I said that and I mean it. Today's Islam is a crazy-in-the-head mental disorder. I'll enjoy watching you go crazy over that statement!]

That's a wrap for now.

Just for your own edification, I thought I'd post the rest of the soldier's email that I cited above because it's good stuff, and I know you'll enjoy the news. Read it here, because I guarantee you won't hear it in the MSM. They simply don't want you to know.

"There are many things that happen in this country (as well as Iraq) that are never reported because they don't have "shock value." It is a sad day when the opening of an all girls school (which in one day has 6000 girls in attendence) in a country that no more than 4 years ago didn't allow girls to attend school can't make the news, especially when the only reason the school was opened was because the American military and contractors paid and protected the people who built it. In one year I have seen my share of nastiness, but I have also seen girls smile who have never smiled before. Kids going to school where there was no school before. Farmers growing crops where before there was nothing but barren rock because they now have an irrigation system and new wells. There are so many things, good things, that have been done here and it is all trashed by one account of careless reporting. I am truly disappointed and frankly disgusted at the news media over all of this. But hey, that is just one soldier's opinion of what I see and have to experience in a city I have spent a year of my life in. Take it for what it is worth."
